IKEA & teenage engineering

IKEA launches FREKVENS party collection in collaboration with Stockholm creatives, teenage engineering, to help throw the perfect party at home.

The limited edition music based collection will be available in store and online from February 2020, starting from only £4. The playful range has a retro aesthetic and impressive sound quality, designed for people who love design and music.

The 27 piece collection includes modular speakers and spotlights to help easily create a personalised sound and light system at home that can be scaled up or down to go with the flow.

Designed to embrace spontaneous occasions, the collection includes three types of speakers and received a prestigious Red Dot Award in 2018 during product development.

As a Stockholm based creative collective made up of engineers and programmers, teenage engineering combined their love for making music and electronics with IKEA’s home furnishing knowledge to democratise light and sound at home.

Jesper Kouthoofd, Head of Design & Founder of teenage engineering says ‘FREKVENS introduces sound into the home in a new way. It is very simple, fun and playful – bringing a retro and unique aesthetic to IKEA not seen before. The range can help anyone become a home roadie, setting up your own sound system and light show with minimal effort’.

FREVKENS also offers a selection of party essentials developed by IKEA designers. From a retro silver raincoat paired with matching bag, to tiki inspired stackable cups, the collection provides everything to get the party started.
