From dingy bedsits to a smart contemporary home, Englefield House presented the age old challenge to design studio DROO of marrying modern living with a Period house in the most seamless manner.
The existing Victorian Terrace house was in absolute disarray when it was purchased. The sensitive refurbishment and extension of the existing property seeked to integrate all of the aspects of contemporary living into a Period home whilst enhancing the original features of the house.
This converted 5 bedroom, 5 bathroom house now boasts the perfect combination between open plan living and the classic Victorian room based design.
Founded by Michel Da Costa Gonçalves and Amrita Mahindroo, DROO is an award-winning practice operating worldwide from their offices in London and Paris.
DROO takes an holistic approach to design from the object to the urban. Each project is a culmination of the complex network of conditions, which are distilled into a singular poetic statement, which valorises its context – both physical and intellectual.
