As we see lockdown being cautiously lifted around the world, Rome based designer Umberto Menasci has proposed a solution for how we go back to the beach.
His ‘Safe Beach’ concept uses clear lexan boxes to designate specific areas, so that beach users maintain safe social distancing.
Each box has an opening at the back and the front, so there is plenty of ventilation and movement is easy.
The idea is to create a sort of hotel in the beach, with a reception that could handle the check-in of the boxes on a time managed basis. Reservations would be made on an app.
There would be rules and shifts in accessing the sea and drinks and food could be delivered direct to each box.
A stylish imagining of what could be the ‘new normal’?
